A sense of placeWorking in Cornwall where she was born, Perry Besterman is a lithographer who draws inspiration from the Cornish landscape: its rugged coast and moors, its wildlife, seas and skies. From her native Porthcothan to Bodmin Moor, Perry’s contemporary prints reflect our relationship with a starkly beautiful and dramatically uncompromising land. Making a lithographPerry draws directly onto the surface of a block of fine-grained limestone, from detailed drawings she has made in the landscape. After processing, the stone is inked, and a sheet of paper is placed onto the inked surface. The image is transferred from stone to paper in a hand-operated press. The resulting print or lithograph can be repeated in small, limited editions. |
